Union urges teachers to self-isolate as ELT students test positive to Covid-19

The Union of Professional Educators – Voice of the Workers has advised members who teach at a particular English language school to self-isolate and get tested as soon as possible after being informed “by reliable sources,” that some of its students have tested positive to Covid-19.

The union, which did not publicly name the school, said that the students belonged to the cluster reported earlier today: the one linked to a weekend pool party in a St Julians hotel.

14 cases were reported earlier on Sunday – more than doubling the number of active cases to 26 – of which 9 were linked to the cluster.

The UPE said that it was in close contact with its members, and that it would strive to ensure that the school follows procedure.
