Unacceptable that Muscat is close to those accused of assassination – PN

The Nationalist Party expressed that it is unacceptable that the Prime Minister Joseph Muscat is so close to people accused of assassination.

In a press release, the Nationalist Party referred to thousands of Euros worth of gifts that the Prime Minister Joseph Muscat received from Yorgen Fenech, who’s currently being accused of being involved in the assassination of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia.

The PN said that this goes to show the proximity between the Prime Minister himself and a circle of criminal people that lead to the complete takeover of Castille. The Nationalist Party insisted that it is unacceptable that the ex-Chief of Staff Keith Schembri was also involved in the same circle of friends.

The party insisted that all of this reaffirms that Muscat is bound to resign with immediate effect.

In a reaction, the Labour Party insisted that the Opposition Leader, Adrian Delia, also has several big questions to answer about relationships with people who are currently being investigated.

The Labour Party said that as opposed to other people, the Prime Minister has always worked in full collaboration with the Security Services. In the meantime, it implied that the PN would do itself justice if it looks into its own leader and other prominent figures in the same party before throwing accusations at the Prime Minister.

This week, the Standards Commissioner was asked to launch an investigation into PM Muscat who allegedly received a watch worth €20,000 as a gift from Yorgen Fenech. Fenech is currently being accused with the involvement in the assassination of Daphne Caruana Galizia.

Rule of Law NGO filed a police report denouncing Muscat with regards to the alleged corruption, bribery and conflict of interest.
