Two young men arrested for Marsa robberies

Two young men are being held under arrest following two thefts on two separate instances in the same night in Marsa.

The Marsa District Police were doing their rounds at around 1am, when they heard shouts around Triq Derby area. Upon investigation, they were approached by a 28-year old man from Mali who stated that he had just been robbed by two persons. Another 23-year old from Eritrea approached them while on site, and also explained that he had been robbed by two people using a sharp and pointy weapon.

A medical team was called on site to provide first aid, and an ambulance took him to Mater Dei Hospital. He was later certified to be suffering from grievous injuries.

The Police started their search based on the eyewitness description, and found two people who matched it walking near by the Marsa Police Station. They were stopped by Police when one of them dropped a sharp and pointy weapon on the ground. A search found them in the possession of keys, lighters, two mobiles and money.

The 20-year old and 18-year old from Sudan were arrested. Investigations are still ongoing.
