Two hospitalised after traffic accidents

A man with greious injuries and a woman suffering from serious injuries were taken to Mater Dei Hospital after they were involved in two different traffic accidents overnight.

A 44-year-old-man, residing at Marsaskala, was taken to Mater Dei Hospital following serious injuries sustained in a traffic accident in Cospicua.

Police assistance was asked at 23:15 to investigate a traffic accident in Triq San Nikola. It seemed that the driver lost control of the car he was driving and crashed into a tree.

Members from Civil Protection were asked to assist. The man was given first assistance on site and then rushed to hospital by ambulance were he’s been certified as suffering from grievous injuries.

Investigations are still ongoing.

Woman ran over in Sliema

In a separate accident, just after midnight, the police assisted a 33-year-old woman who was  allegedly run over by a car in Sliema.

The vehicle was being driven by a 25-year-old male residing in San Gwann.

The woman was taken to hospital and certified as having serious injuries. Duty Magistrate Dr Neville Camilleri opened an inquiry.

Investigations are still ongoing.
