The Ministry of Health has reported the deaths of two care home residents after they tested positive for Covid-19, thus bringing the total number of deaths linked to the pandemic in Malta up to 27

It said that the first death to be reported was of a 91-year-old man who had tested positive for Covid-19 on 14 September, while the second was of a 73-year-old woman who had tested positive for the coronavirus the following day. Both died overnight.

The two lived in separate care homes, the ministry confirmed without naming either.

As it generally does, the ministry confirmed that both had underlying health conditions, before giving its condolences to their loved ones and urging the public to keep following the advice of the health authorities.
