Two people have been arrested by police following a search to find those responsible for a theft from an elderly person’s home in Valletta.

The investigation is understood to have taken a number of hours, with those arrested to appear in court tomorrow.

The arrests follow today’s appearance in court of another man who was one of three people accused of stealing two days prior. The 36 year old man, resident in Msida, pled not guilty and was not granted bail.

The accused appeared in front of Magistrate Joe Mifsud. The accused was charged with aggravated theft, causing slight injuries, carrying a knife without a licence and being a recidivist.

The court heard how those responsible were caught on security cameras stealing a laptop.

Magistrate Mifsud insisted that in the interests of protecting society, he would not enter into the merits of the case, adding that the victim must testify and those aiding the theft must be found.

The Magistrate explained that he didn’t grant bail to protect society and to avoid the accused from stealing again.
