Turtle killed in boat hit and run

An approximately 17-year old female loggerhead turtle was found dead, off the coast from Sliema. This was announced by Nature Trust Malta in a Facebook post. The non-governmental organisation said that the turtle was brought into St Julians’ by the Transport Malta Maritime Section.

The cause of the turtle’s death seems to be a hit by boat which broke the turtle’s shell into three at the tail end.

The organisation appealed to boat owners to sail carefully.
