Trump escorted to safety after shooting outside White House

The US President had to be escorted out of a press briefing by a securtity ageny of the Secret Service following a shooting outside the White House. 

The incident took place just minutes into the press briefing by the President. 

Following the incident, the White House was placed on lockdown. The suspect was eventually shot by the police officers. 

Nobody else was wounded in the shooting, Trump said. He praised the Secret Service response and said the agency would have more details on the event later.

The Secret Service said that the Secret Service Office of Professional Responsibility will be conducting an internal review of the officer’s actions and the Metropolitan Police Department was contacted to conduct an investigation.
