Top gaming job to be filled through public call in bid to restore Malta’s tarnished reputation

Minister for the Economy and Industry Silvio Schembri, announced that the post for the Chief Executive Officer of the Malta Gaming Authority will be filled through a public call.

Heathcliff Farrugia stepped down from his position as CEO in October.

“This is the first time that the highest post within the authority will be filled after a public call, thus this enhances the transparency and credibility at which the CEO of the authority will be appointed”, said Minister Schembri.

MGA’s reputation was tarnished with the revelation that disgraced Malta Financial Authority CEO Joseph Cuschieri, during his days as MGA head visited Las Vegas with Yorgen Fenech. The revelations were made by Times of Malta.
