The importance of entrepreneurship education

This content was supplied by European Startup Hub

At the European Startup Hub, our goal is to provide a platform to the startup sphere in Europe to discuss ideas, network and learn new skills.

The European Startup Hub has a monthly event, where startups and entrepreneurs can show-case their products, services and ideas to a group of attendees. We also provide courses to young students, who are interested in the entrepreneurial world. Together with this, once a year, we have a Start-up Action event for anyone to attend and build a start-up within two days. We help you take ideas from inception to pitch deck format.

Benefits of entrepreneurship

The strongest strategy to date which is known to lead to self-sufficiency is entrepreneurship.  Our classes prepare people, particularly youth, to be responsible, enterprising individuals who become entrepreneurs or entrepreneurial thinkers by immersing them in real life learning experiences where they can take risks, manage the results, and learn from the outcomes. Self-employment offers the ability for persons with disabilities and their families to create and manage companies in which they act as managers or supervisors, rather than simply as workers.  Self-employment offers the ability for persons with disabilities and their families to create and manage companies in which they act as managers or supervisors, rather than simply as workers.

Benefits of entrepreneurship education

The impact of entrepreneurship education on youth with disabilities shows the following benefits:

Opportunity for work based experiences

Work experiences and mentorship for young people with / without disabilities during secondary / high school, are excellent trampolines in providing them knowledge, experience and confidence to seek their full-time position. Also, students who participate in occupational education and special education in integrated settings are more likely to be competitively employed than students who have not participated in such activities.

Opportunity to exercise leadership and develop interpersonal skills

By launching a small business or school-based enterprise, of which is part of our start-up action 20-hour event, youths with disabilities can lead and experience different roles. In addition, they learn to communicate their ideas and influence others effectively through the development of self-advocacy and conflict resolution skills.
