Tenders issued for the Malta-Italy gas pipeline

The Government issued tenders for the gas pipeline project between Malta and Italy.

The Energy & Water Agency (EIA) within the Ministry for Energy and Water Management issued a call for tenders for the Malta-Italy gas pipeline interconnection project.

The project will connect Malta to the Trans-European Gas Network through a natural gas pipeline, which will supply Natural Gas to Malta for the generation of electricity.

The tenders inlude:  undertaking a preliminary marine route survey between Malta and Italy, studies to be carried out in Malta and Italy in order to obtain development permits, and  the management of the front-end engineering design (FEED) studies.

These calls are accessable through the Government Electronic Tendering Portal (e-PPS).

  • CT3110/2018 – A call for tenders to undertake a preliminary marine route survey of the offshore route between Delimara, Malta and Gela, Sicily.
    Closing date: 26th July 2018
  • CT3109/2018 – A call for tenders which addresses the Environmental Impact Assessment studies to be carried out in both Malta and Italy, necessary to obtain development permits in both countries.
    Closing date: 9th August 2018
  • CT3108/2018 – A call for tenders to conduct the front-end engineering design (FEED) studies. This will be followed by the preparation of the documentation for a call for tenders for the construction of the gas pipeline project.
