Teachers can apply for new mental health training

Maltese Mental health charity, the Richmond Foundation is offering free Youth Mental Health first aid courses to teachers.

The training will be given to students of secondary and post-secondary institutions and will offered over a short period of time.

The course itself, provides 14 hours of teaching time to people in professions that work with young people on a daily basis, like teachers and sports coaches.

It’s intended that the training gives them the means to spot mental health concerns in young people early, and to work with those facing a more long term mental illness.

The project is being run in coordination with the Ministry for Education and employment with part financing from the EU’s European Social Fund (ESF).
