Newsbook.com.mt will be reporting live from the protest vigil.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, the monthly vigil will not take place in Valletta on Saturday. Instead, the public and activists have found a way how to commemorate the memory of the journalist and at the same time continue demanding justice.
"Today proves that there is an effort to make people forget Daphne Caruana Galizia," the activists said on Sunday in their symbolic protest against the government's decision not to include Caruana Galizia in its chosen set of women.
Pressure group Occupy Justice uploaded photos on Facebook which show a red liquid and eggs covering the photos of the slain journalist, found by one of the activists who went to replenish the protest memorial on Tuesday morning. The red liquid thought to be some type of tomato sauce was placed to resemble blood.
In a Facebook post, the rule of law NGO Occupy Justice posted a photo of messages found at Daphne Caruana Galizia’s memorial in Valletta, 119 weeks after the journalist was assassinated.
The protest is scheduled to start at 3pm on Sunday and will be followed with an anti-corruption concert at 4.30pm.
"Christmas might be a time of celebration for many, but it is also a time of reflection, a time to contemplate the constitutional crisis that Malta is currently going through," the statement reads.
