The outbreak is the first in Denmark, the world’s largest producer of mink skins, but comes shortly after the virus was detected at 13 mink farms in the Netherlands where roughly 570,000 minks have been ordered culled.
The draft decree which has been approved by the Cabinet, is a bid to stop the festive season from fueling the third wave. Movement between regions will be banned from 21 December until Epiphany which is a national holiday on 6 January. People will not be allowed to transfer to their holiday homes, according to the Italian news agency ANSA.
