In the wake of one of the toughest times we ever had to experience, it is of utmost importance that we make our decisions, based on sound financial principles and an ethos of good governance said the Malta Chamber of Commerce President David Xuereb during a webinar organised by The Chamber on Trade Finance.
During The Chamber’s Annual General Meeting Prime Minister Abela noted how the ideas and feedback of The Malta Chamber were key in the development of the Government’s policies during the COVID-19 crisis.
In a statement, the Chamber of Commerce explained that the webinar was organised for its members with the aim of providing them with first-hand information on the detail of the measures announced during the emergency budget which was unveiled on Monday.
On Friday, the President of the Malta Chamber of Commerce Perit David Xuereb met with shop owners in Republic Street, Valletta. During the walkabout, Xuereb and the shop owners discussed the challenges and uncertainties the latter were facing after reopening.
The President of The Malta Chamber David Xuereb described the business sentiment on which the Chamber kept a close eye on through its regular surveys among its membership which represented all sectors of the Maltese economy, and how since mid-March, the organisation was proposing recommendations to the government to support businesses through the challenging times of COVID-19.
The purpose of the scheme, which will be applicable between the 1st February until 31st December 2022, is to financially assist new businesses and self-employed that would like to rent an industrial space from a third party to commence a new business activity, implement growth plans, handle an increase in orders and implement innovations to increase efficiency.

As the global response to the novel coronavirus pandemic gathers steam, local businesses such as GasanMamo Insurance are putting their support into the local economy. The company recently confirmed its partnership and support to the Malta Chamber of Commerce through an official collaboration.
A new business section dedicated to the Virtual Financial Assets (VFA) Agents was set up within The Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry with the election for the executive committee taking place on Monday 23rd March 2020.
Monday morning the Malta Chamber will be convening a working group experts in diverse fields with the aim of spearheading a radical reform of the construction industry. The Chamber will be publishing the key performance indicators that must be achieved and the timeframes within which these should be achieved.
