Following the publication of an executive decree by Pope Francis on guidelines on sexual abuse, Archbishop Charles Scicluna as Adjunct Secretary to the Congregation of the Doctrine of the faith, addressed an explanatory press conference . He underscored the importance of this document which, he said, clarified the existing rules and gave clear procedural lines for those responsible in cases of reported sexual abuse. He said that the document underlines the importance of the duty of care which the community has towards the young and vulnerable. He said that the dioceses are being required to set up structures for reporting as well as structures for support for the abused and their families.
