Suspended sentence for stealing iPad

A 59-year-old woman was sentenced to two years in jail suspended to four years after she was found guilty of stealing an iPad.

Ċensina Borg a St.Paul’s Bay resident has admitted that on the 22nd of July 2019, she and her son have stolen a bag belonging to consultant Mark Formosa who works at Mater Dei Hospital. The bag contained the iPad in question.

The woman was identified from footage taken by the hospital’s security cameras.

Borg was accused of theft and attempt to sell stolen goods. Originally she pleaded not guilty to the accusations, however later she registered an admission to the charges. This after the Prosecution retracted the charge of repeat offender.

Magistrate Gabriella Vella presided over the Court.

Prosecution was led by Inspector Mario Xiberras.
