Suspended sentence for marijuana user

Hugo Rene Henry Fauchier, 22, was given a suspended sentence of 12 months after being found in possession of 14 grammes of marijuana.

The French national who is holidaying in Malta was found in possession of the drug following a police raid at the place where he is staying in San Gwann.

Upon arrest, he informed the Police that he he is a daily user, and that he bought the batch in question from Paceville.

Fauchier pleaded guilty to the charges brought against him.

Magistrate Gabriella Vella presided over the case. She advised the accused to seek help to kick the habit. Should he be found in breach of the terms, he will be jailed or be fined up to €2,000.
