A student at the Sacred Heart Minor Seminary – a boys’ secondary school in Victoria run by the Diocese of Gozo – has tested positive for Covid-19, is informed.

But multiple sources have lamented that in spite of this, no contact tracing is yet taking place.

Other sources have told the newsroom of two cases of Covid-19 – an LSE and a student – at the state primary school in Victoria, known as The Happy School.

Just last week, in her weekly press briefing, Superintendent for Public Health Charmaine Gauci had said that no major cases of Covid-19 transmission in schools had been reported yet, and that there had been no cases of the virus spreading among students.

She observed that there had been a number of cases where school staff contracted the virus from colleagues – cases which are included with all other workplace transmissions.

The health authorities reported 174 new cases of Covid-19 earlier in the day, with the number of known active cases reaching 1,929.
