Malta’s weather is set to worsen over the weekend, but it hasn’t stopped the Maltese Marathon.
The weather forecast expects a series of showers and north-easterly winds which will grow in speed across Saturday and into Sunday.
Saturday night will also see a drop in the temperatures to 6 degrees.
For Sunday, the Met Office says that there will be showers morphing into thunder storms and wind speeds reaching force 9, around 48 knots.
But despite the poor weather, the organisers of the Malta Marathon are determined that the race will go on.
The annual race starts on Sunday morning from Mdina.
Speaking to the Times of Malta, the organizers said, ‘The race is on, it will happen come what may.’
