Storks flying over Gozo’s hospital

Storks arriving in Malta a couple of days ago have not left yet. BirdLife Malta announced this, and said that the 11 storks are in Gozo, close to the General Hospital.

Police were called on site to assist the birds, in order to avoid the occurrence of another bird shooting incident. BirdLife appealed the public to report any incident to the organisation and the authorities, so the necessary action is taken.

BirdLife Malta explained that this does not usually happen in August, and that usually these come to Malta from Italy or Sweden in September.

These birds’ origin is not yet known as they do not have a ring with the necessary information.
