Steward Health Care announces $600m in losses – reports

Steward Health Care, the company that owns and runs three hospitals on Malta, reported an operating loss of nearly $600 million in losses in two years, according to media reports.

The company has a total of 37 hospitals, of which only three are located overseas. Karin Grech, St Luke’s Hospital and the Gozo General Hospital are operated by Steward Health Care after it took over from Vitals Global Healthcare. VGH had originally signed a public-private partnership agreement with the government.

According to financial information filed at the Centre for Health Information and Analysis in Massachusetts, the company reported an operating loss of nearly $600 million, $322 million for 2017 and $270 million for 2018.
