St Dorothy’s School inaugurates new sports and recreational complex

The St Dorothy’s Sports and Recreational Complex in Ħaż-Żebbuġ was officially inaugurated and blessed by Auxiliary Bishop Mons. Joseph Galea Curmi on Monday 13th May 2019, in the presence of Mother General of the Dorothean Congregation, Sr Sao Ribeiro, the Sisters of St Dorothy and the schools’ leadership teams, as well as various distinguished guests, teachers, parents, students and former students.

The complex has been built through the various donations of current and past students.

The complex, which covers an expansive 10,000 sq metre and is situated behind the Senior School, consists of an outdoor volleyball court, a multi-purpose indoor gymnasium, a 25-metre short course swimming pool with seven lanes, two five-a-side or one seven-a-side football pitch with a synthetic turf surface (UEFA and FIFA approved), a 200-metre lined running track, including a 100-metre straight track. Athletics facilities include long jump, high jump, shot put, discus and javelin areas.

All outdoor facilities are floodlit, and have shower and changing room facilities. The various facilities have all been built to international standards and will be used by all students during school hours.

All facilities are open to the public after school hours under a membership scheme. Free parking is also available to members who use these facilities.
