Slumdog Millionaire actor Irrfan Khan passes away from cancer

Actor Irrfan Khan, who was well known for his roles in Life of Pi, Jurassic World, The Amazing Spider-Man and Slumdog Billionaire, as well as a number of Bollywood films died in Mumbai at the age of 53.

In 2018, Khan tweeted that he had been diagnosed with an endocrine tumour and had subsequently undergone treatment for cancer throughout 2019.

His breakthrough role was in the feature debut of then-unknown British director Asif Kapadia, The Warrior, which was shot in India.

Khan’s mother, Saeeda Begum, died on Saturday 25th April at the age of 95. Khan attended her funeral via video link.
