Shannon Mak, who was murdered by her ex-boyfriend, had just taken him home after a work activity, when he brutally murdered her and left her lifeless body lying between two cars under a wall on the 3rd of August.
The couple had broken up around two months earlier, after Shannon said that her boyfriend was repeatedly aggressive towards her. However, it seems that Shannon entered the accused’s residence after she drove him home from Armier, but left after they started arguing.
The court heard that the accused, a 22-year-old Dutchman, ran out chasing 30-year-old Shannon in Triq l-Istampaturi with a knife measuring around 4 to 6 inches, with which he slashed her throat.
In CCTV footage, the accused is seen murdering Shannon. He then throws the murder weapon and the victim’s mobile phone on to a veranda close to the crime scene.
The accused then returned to his residence, where he was found by the police. He did not resist arrest.
The hearing is to continue on the 25th of September. The accused is still being held under arrest.
