Six months for travelling with fake documents

Three migrants have been sentenced to six months in jail. They have been found to be in breach of the law when they travelled all the way to Rome, Italy with false documents.

The men were arrested upon their arrival in Rome and were immediately sent back to Malta.

The Sudanese nationals, residents at the Ħal Far open centre, pleaded guilty to the charges brought against them in front of Court.

They admitted that the bought the false passports from a shop in Ħamrun.

One of the accused stated that he wanted to leave Malta as he did not fell that he was secure following the protests at Ħal Far in the past weeks.

Another protested that he was not provided with required medical care.
