Labour MEP Miriam Dalli, has asked the European Commission to ensure that the inter-connector between Malta and Sicily continue to work on a normal basis. She also asked the European Commission to consider whether it is acceptable or not that the Italian Deputy Prime Minister Luigi Di Maio “threatens” another member state of the European Union.

This followed after earlier this week, Di Maio spoke on Italian television and said that Malta is taking electricity from Italy, but refuses to give its support in the immigrant issue. For this, the Maltese Government immediately responded and said that Malta buys energy at commercial prices.
