Following the result of the PN leadership election which saw Bernard Grech being elected as the new party leader, a number of PN councillors, who have backed Adrian Delia, have handed their resignation.

Birkirkara councillor Deborah Mifsud has informed the PN Secretary General Francis Zammit Dimech that she will no longer represent the PN and will therefore resign. She will remain part of the Birkirkara Local Council as an independent candidate. Mifsud has also resigned as a member of the PN’s Executive Committee.

The President of the SMEPN, Andre Grech has also resigned from his post which means he no longer forms part of the PN’s Executive Committee.

Birżebbuġa councillor Doriana Portelli and Marsa councillor Charmaine Aquilina, both have expressed their position on Facebook saying that they will resign and will remain as part of the local council as independent candidates.

This newsroom is informed that until the time of writing these councillors have not yet been contacted by the party.

Other PN supporters who were backing Adrian Delia have also expressed their disappointment and stated they no longer feel part of the PN.

In his reaction after the official result was announced, Adrian Delia pledged his loyalty to the new PN leader Bernard Grech and said that he will make sure he does not suffer what he went through during the past three years.
