Nineteen migrants were saved, rescued and brought to Malta by the Armed Forces of Malta. Those rescued were 17 men, 1 pregnant woman and a minor.

Prime Minister Joseph Muscat announced this at the tail end of a press conference given to communicate the results of the Magisterial Inquiry which found no links between the Muscat family and the Panamanian company, Egrant Inc.

Muscat said that the rescue operation was a complicated one and that the Armed Forces of Malta managed to save the migrants as the boat was sinking.

The Armed Forces of Malta at first saved 17 migrants and later rescued two others who had been missing.
