England failed to win their last match in Group G after Belgium triumphed thanks to a wonderful goal by Adnan Januzaj. The former Manchester United player scored the winner just after the restart to help Belgium maintain their perfect record at this year’s tournament.
Belgium, who were missing Romelu Lukaku and Eden Hazard from the starting lineup, went close to opening the score inside the first ten minutes but England’s defender Gary Cahill managed to clear the ball off the line.
England’s prolific goalscorer Harry Kane was left on the bench as Marcus Rashford and Jamie Vardy led the forward line. Rashford could have equalized in the 66th minute but Thibaut Courtois tipped wide the Manchester United attacker’s close range shot.
Group winners Belgium will now play against Japan whilst England must overcome Colombia in order to keep their World Cup dream alive.
