A day after Newsbook.com.mt exclusively broke the news that Melvin Theuma had feared that there was a plot to kill him and wrote a letter detailing the involvement of Keith Schembri and Yorgen Fenech in the assassination of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia. Times of Malta published a copy of the same letter.

Newsbook.com.mt had reported that there were two copies of the same letter. It also reported that  Keith Schembri was mentioned in this letter.

The copy of the letter published Tuesday morning by Times of Malta confirms the report published by Newsbook on Monday.

In the letter Melvin Theuma stated that he was the middleman. He wrote that he suspected that Yorgen Fenech and Keith Schembri il-Kasco were plotting to eliminate him so that the case would not be solved.

The letter confirms the Newsbook.com.mt report that together with the letter Theuma also had ‘deposited’ a copy of the tape recording he had.

Newsbook.com.mt reported that Schembri’s name is also mentioned on the tapes.

PN Reaction

The Partit Nazzjonalista, in a reaction said that former OPM Chief of Staff Keith Schembri should be arrested immediately as the media reports show the worrying proximity which this powerful man had with the middleman in the Daphne murder. The PN statement said that the middleman was given state’s evidence by Muscat and without the support of cabinet. This middleman made allegations that Schembri, the owner of the offshore company 17 Black, and Fenech commissioned the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia. The PN said that Muscat should stop interfering in due process and let justice take its course
