The Schedule V validity has been extended to ten years from teh current five. This was announced by the Deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister Chris Fearne as part of a number of new Pharmacy of Your Choice (POYC) initiatives.

During a visit at the PYC office in Gwardamangia, Minister Fearne said that the extension in the validity for the Schedule V will decrease bureaucracy. He added that the POYC distributes round about €28 million worth of medicines to over 143,000 patients.

Another initiative announced on Tuesday is the integrated IT system that will reduce drastically the paper trial for patients that would need to change their medicinal requirements and allow access to medical practitioners to change medical details in real time.
