Tista' taqra bil- Malti.

Shannon Mak’s boyfriend, Jelle Rijpma, has admitted that he slashed her throat in August 2018.

Mak’s lifeless body was found in a pool of blood at around 6.15am on August 3rd 2018. She was found between two cars in Mastrudaxxi Street Santa Venera. Police quickly arrested Rijpma following the murder.

The 30-year old woman had allegedly just ended her relationship with him. However, they had both attended an event the previous evening, and ended it with an argument. Reports at the time also stated that Rijpma had admitted to the Police that he slit her throat.

Rijpma has denied charges so far, but today changed his plea to guilty.

The Court of Magistrates then referred the case to the Criminal Court, since it now becomes a case of wilful homicide. The Criminal Court will be the one sentencing Ripjma. Lawyer Stephen Tonna Lowell appeared for the accused.  Lawyer Stefano Filletti appeared for the family of Shanon Mak. Inspectors Kurt Zahra and Robert Vella prosecuted.
