Romania should set an example of European values – Metsola

MEP Roberta Metsola said that Romania should ‘be at the heart of the European Union’ and ‘set an example of the European values’.

Addressing the LIBE Committee debate on the priorities of the Romanian Presidency, Metsola made light of growing concerns about corruption within the member state and its current position holding the EU presidency.

She explained that ‘Corruption is the anti-thesis of what our European Union stands for’ and that the ‘European Union must fight against corruption with everything it has got, or else the political project might start to crack’.
