Gozo Minister Clint Camilleri has announced that St Anthony Street, which gives access from Mġarr to various villages around Gozo, will be temporarily opened as from Thursday. In a press statement, Minister Camilleri said that this decision was taken to improve road access for locals and tourists visiting Gozo during these days.
Minister Camilleri explained that the Ministry for Gozo has taken into consideration that during this month, Gozo is expecting an influx of Maltese citizens and tourists visiting the island for Valentine’s Day, as well as for the regional and spontaneous Carnival in Nadur.
According to Gozo Minister, Clint Camilleri, emergency roadworks will begin immediately on Żewwieqa Street which is dangerous for vehicles passing through.
In the press statement it has been explained that when works will resume on St Anthony Street, Żewwieqa Street will serve as an alternative way for all residents of Qala, Nadur and part of Għajnsielem.
The Ministry for Gozo said that the reason behind these works is to improve both traffic management for Gozitans living in these areas and to improve road safety in general for everyone visiting the island.
