Italy’s ex-prime minister and leader of the center party Italia Viva leader Matteo Renzi triggered a political crisis after announcing that two ministers coming from within his party were quitting from Giuseppe Contes’ coalition government.

Minister Teresa Bellanova and Elena Bonetti were also joined by a similar decision from the Foreign Underscretary Ivan Scalfarotto

Renzi announced that he had written to Conte communicating the resignations. In comments after this stance, Renzi said that Italia Viva did not trigger any crisis, as the crisis was there for months. He added that “The king is naked andpolitics is not a reality show,” rebuffing Conte’s offer of a “pact” until the end of the parliamentary term in 2023.
