The Minister for Gozo Justyne Caruana announced a reform for the Meals on Wheels service in Gozo, which currently consists of a meal with two dishes and a dessert, at the price of € 2.33.
During a press conference, the minister said that new steps will be introduced in the processing, packaging and distribution of food.
The people who are entitled to this service are people over 60 or those with special needs as long as they present a copy of a Special ID card.
Experts have also designed a new menu in order to suit the needs of clients with chronic conditions which determine what kind of food they can consume. Therefore, the menu will see the inclusion of lactose free items, gluten free items, as well as items for diabetic people.
The Minister thanked the NGO Friends of the Sick and the Elderly, which has provided the service in recent years.
