The Marigold Foundation has announced that it raised a record €210,000 during the Pink October Campaign last year.
During a press conference at Mater Dei Hospital, Mrs Michelle Muscat explained that the money raised would be split to provide €100,000 towards therapy programmes helping existing and newly diagnosed patients with breast cancer as well as the medical professionals at the hospital.
The larger share of €110,000 is expected to be divided among the cancer NGOs; Breast Care Europa Donna, Karl Vella Foundation, Hospice Malta, Puttinu Cares, Action for Breast Cancer.
A sum is also expected to be provided towards the University of Malta’s Research Innovation and Development Trust towards research.
While thanking all who contributed to the campaign’s success, Mrs Muscat stated that the main objective of the Pink October campaign was about educating and raising awareness of breast cancer and encouraging men and women to get themselves checked regularly.
