Record 245 new Covid-19 cases found overnight

Malta has registered 245 new coronavirus cases on Saturday following _ swab tests.

On Wednesday, Malta registered a high record of 224 new infections.

The number of infections went up by 54 cases from the previous day.

2,221 cases remain active after 69 individuals made a recovery.

Two Covid-related deaths were reported earlier on Saturday morning. The two victims passed away at Mater Dei Hospital. The pandemic has claimed 232 lives so far.

From the 191 cases reported on Friday, the health authorities traced 90 cases to:

  • 40 family members of individuals who tested positive;
  • 22 work colleagues of individuals who tested positive;
  • 15 individuals were in direct contact with individuals who tested positive;
  • 13 cases from a social gathering.

101 remain unaccounted for.
