Reconstructed road gets prime ministerial opening

A reconstructed road in Gozo was inaugurated on Thursday with Prime Minister Robert Abela and Gozo Minister Clint Camilleri presiding over the event.

The project which cost some €2 million, consisted of the reconstruction of 800m of Triq Sant’Antin in Għajnsielem. The road is an arterial one connecting the port in Mġarr to Għajnsielem and Qala.

The project included the complete reconstruction of the road along with the passing new communication network services, and new water, drainage, and electrical services as well. Culverts for flooding have also been installed.

New pavements and new rubble walls were also built while two layers of asphalt were laid on the road itself.

During the press conference Prime Minister Abela said that Gozo will continue to remain a priority for the government. He remarked that the infrastructure works on Gozo move on at the same rate as the work on Malta.

Minister Camilleri remarked that each day the infrastructure on Gozo is improved. He noted that works are finished by the deadline in order to ensure that the project is finished in the shortest time-frame possible so not to cause inconvenience for residents remains.

Camilleri said that the project had been on the backburner for years noting that the current administration ensured that the project is completed.
