Television presenter, former OPM spokesperson and lawyer Ramona Attard has been confirmed as the new Partit Laburista president after the post was not contested. She will be succeeding Daniel Micallef who is uncontested for the deputy leader for party affairs position.

In a statement on Wednesday evening, Partit Laburista said that the party’s executive had met and unanimously approved all the uncontested posts. Louis Gatt has been confirmed as vice-president of the party, William Lewis is the new organising secretary while Marc Vella Bonnici was confirmed as the new international secretary.

The former propagandist resigned from the Planning Appeals Board before contesting for the post of party president.

Daniel Micallef who until recent served as PL president, will be confirmed as deputy party leader for party affairs later this month during a party general conference which will be held on 25 July.

Micallef will be replacing controversial former minister Chris Cardona, who was asked to resign by Prime Minister Robert Abela last month in the wake of court testimony that appeared to implicate him in the Daphne Caruana Galizia assassination.
