The casual election on the seventh electoral district following the resignation of former Finance Minister Edward Scicluna will be contested by a former mayor and two former MPs.
Nominations ended on Saturday, with the Electoral Commission announcing that former PN MP and now Malta Council of Science and Technology chair Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando has joined the race.
The ballots cast in the 2017 snap election will be reopened and recounted on Tuesday.
Former Rabat mayor Charles Azzopardi was the first to submit his nomination.
Malta Tourism Authority chairman Gavin Gulia followed suit and submitted his nomination on Friday, while Pullicino Orlando added his name to the list on the final day of nominations.
Azzopardi who was not allowed to contest on behalf of Partit Laburista following corruption claims, was the first to submit his nomination. He is considered as the frontrunner after obtaining a total of 2,179 votes on his last count.
Gulia gained 1,569 votes on a final count while Pullicino Orlando had gained 1,040 votes.
