On Friday 3rd May The Egmont Hall, Fort St Angelo in Birgu (Vittoriosa) from 7.30 to 10.00 pm, Heritage Malta is inviting the public to a curator’s lecture at Fort St Angelo in connection with the recently inaugurated temporary exhibition ‘Behind Closed Doors: Fort St Angelo and the Royal Navy 1906-1979’.
This lecture will provide more insight about the uses and roles which were shouldered by Fort St Angelo when it was occupied by the Royal Navy. Other topics will put forward more details about the daily life within the naval establishment and the staff who worked within the fort until 31 March 1979.
Following the lecture, visitors can view and enjoy the exhibition which unfolds over five different areas in Fort St Angelo. While the bigger picture of this exhibition presents the naval use of the fort and the architectural modifications which were done to it to address the necessities of the time, the core of this event focuses on the personal recollections of those who worked at the fort during its occupation by the Royal Navy.
Admission is free of charge and on a first-come-first-served basis. The lecture will be in English.
