The Police wanted to grant Presidential Pardon to Vince Muscat – Dr Arthur Azzopardi

The public inquiry to determine whether the state and authorities could have done more to save Daphne Caruana Galizia’s life continued.

Dr Arthur Azzopardi took the witness stand on Friday. Dr Azzopardi was the legal represtative of Vince Muscat, il-Koħħu.

"It was on the 24th of April 2018" – said Arthur Azzopardi

"It was very clear that Theuma was acting on behalf of someone" – continued testifying Azzopardi.

09:56 He also testified that the threats on Vince Muscat's life had intensified they did not know from where they were coming and who was behind them.

09:54 Azzopardi is saying that on behalf of his client he requested protection for Vince Muscat and his family but former Police Commissioner told them that if they do they would know that Vince Muscat was the person feeding information on the murder.

09:53 Vince Muscat was also worried because he knew one of his daughters was a target. He knew they wanted to throw acid at her, continued testifying Dr Azzopardi.

09:52 At the CCF he did not eat the food given to him and if he did he shared it with other inmates and he only ate food delivered to him by his relatives, explained Dr Arthur Azzopardi.

09:51 He is also saying that Muscat was also worried that his life was at risk since he decided to co-operate in the investigations.

09:48 He also recalls a meeting at the Police depot with Silvio Valletta where the Police Inspector Keith Arnaud was present.

Dr Azzopardi is saying that Valletta had told them that they need to check and confirm details about the leaks on the murder.

"Inspector Arnaud was flabbergasted" – said Dr Azzopardi.

09:46 The witness is also mentioning a particular meeting held during 2018 between the former Police Commissioner Lawrence Cutajar, Joseph Muscat and Keith Schembri, where Muscat congratulated the Police for the investigations.
