Government-owned company Malta Air Travel, or as it is better known Malta Medair has officially launched a public call for the provision of a helicopter service between Malta and Gozo on Monday.
A press release issued from the Ministry for Gozo and the Ministry for Tourism explained how Minister for Gozo Justyne Caruana and Tourism Minister Konrad Mizzi announced the introduction of the service between the islands during a joint visit to the Gozo heliport. Minister Mizzi said that currently the preliminary and consultative stages from the technical, legal and financial aspects of the project are being wrapped up. He added that the next stage will be the procurement of an operator that is able to provide helicopters that are able to accommodate 15 passengers. From her end, Minister Justyne Caruana said that the necessary studies to identify an ideal scheduled economic model have already been done.
