Around 3,000 seniors residing in government homes for the elderly are soon going to be offered psychotherapy services.
This was announced by Parliamentary Secretary for Persons with Disability and Active Ageing Anthony Agius Decelis who explained that the service would be offered by psychotherapist Theresa Micallef.
Micallef explained that the new services will help seniors adapt more positively to their present situation; which is sometimes a situation over which they have no control. She added that she believes that believe it will help improve their lives.
CEO of Active Aging and Community Care Dr Renzo De Gabriele said that this service will fill an important gap in services that older people require for their mental health.
