Psychoactive substances to be classed as drugs

Psychoactive substances will now be considered as “drugs” after Parliament approved a Bill on the subject in its third reading. In a statement issued by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister Chris Fearne, it was stated that this would effectively mean a wider definition to what constitutes a substance to be considered a “drug”.

The first reading of the bill was approved during a parliamentary session on 31 October 2018.
