Protest in front of Malta House calls “Shame on You”

A number of Maltese Expats in Brussels protested this morning in front of Malta House in the heart of EU territory. Malta House is situated close to all the main EU buildings. The protesters called for the immediate departure of the Prime minister with calls of ‘Barra Issa’ and ‘Shame on You’

Earlier, Member of the European Parliament and Quaestor of the European Parliament David Casa has asked the new President of the European Commission to act in light of the shocking and fast-moving developments in Malta.

In a letter, MEP Casa insisted that the European Union has a duty to bring Malta back from the brink and to ensure that steps are taken immediately to restore the rule of law. “A government that murders its own citizens has absolutely no place in the EU”, said MEP Casa, insisting that the position of the Prime Minister is untenable.

Proud to have joined members of the Maltese community in protest outside Malta House, demanding justice for Daphne Caruana Galizia. We will not stand down.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat is likely to be in for a choppy ride as he attends the upcoming EU Summit in Brussels. Informed sources have told Newsbook.com.mt that there are several heads of state who are not only uncomfortable with the developing situation in Malta but are also not keen to meet the Maltese Premier.

MEP David Casa had tweeted that there is disbelief in Brussels that Joseph Muscat continues to hold onto power under these circumstances. “People are furious, here and in #Malta. The #Maltese community in Brussels will also make its voice heard before Thursday’s @EUCouncil summit. I will be among them” tweeted the EPP MEP.
