The Superintendent of Public Health Prof. Charmaine Gauci addressed the daily press briefing. Seven new cases were confirmed which means that there are 64 active COVID-19 cases.
The press conference ends here. Thank you for following us.
It is also yet to be confirmed if the increase in the number of cases resulted from the lifting of measures which came in to effect as from last week.
Prof. Gauci said we need to confirm in due course if patients end up suffering from other health conditions post coronavirus.
Asked by Newsbook.com.mt if healthcare workers and medics need to wear facemasks Prof. Gauci said that authorities have enforced a number of measures to avoid the transmission of coronavirus in hospitals and health centres. The measure of social distancing is one of the main measures enforced.
There will always be a risk for a 2nd wave of coronavirus but we need to be prepared if this situation arises – Prof. Gauci
Regarding the possibility of an increase in cases, if authorities lift certain measures, as happened for example in Germany, Prof. Gauci said that measures are lifted according to the developments and authorities chose not to lift a number of measures at one go.
We need to continue keeping an active eye on the situation stated prof. Gauci as cases are starting to increase again.
