A press briefing on the latest news regarding COVID-19 will be held at Health Promotion & Disease Prevention Directorate situated in G’Mangia.

The media briefing will start at 12.30pm

Highlight’s from Friday’s press conference

  • 13 new COVID-19 cases
  • A Syrian child aged 8 is one of the new cases
  • This brings the total to 350 total cases
  • 900 swab tests carried out in the last 24 hrs
  • Authorities will be publishing an epidemiological study

Albanian woman residing in Gozo – works as a cleaner at the Gozo General Hospital

A Gozitan woman who works as a carer.

Maltese woman aged 42. Works as a carer.

Three other Maltese women – one of them is a student who has recently went to a retail shop mentioned by the authorities. She also made contact with a relative considered as vulnerable.

Three Maltese man. One of the men was in contact with some of his friends and he also visited their homes while he was feeing sympyoms.

12:35 The majority of the new cases are immigrants resident at the Hal Far open centre. 10 cases in total. Residents were all in quarantine.

12:27 This morning the Ministry for Health announced that a third patient has died of coronavirus.

The victim is an 84-year-old male.

In a statement, the Ministry for Health said that the man tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday when he was admitted to hospital.

The Ministry said that the man was also suffering from other medical conditions.
